If you feel like I`ve been repeatedly posting
about teeth whitening, then you`re right.
We recently got a lot of new whitening patients.
Today, I will tell you about my old friend`s(from USA)
whitening case.
Speaking of something else, when I participated in
UBC exchange program a friend of mine said
something about needing different length of endo
instruments for different nationality.
Something like, 21mm file is enough for Asian
but at least 30mm file is needed for Black.
I rarely use file longer than 25mm here. So! I went to
google scholars as usual and searched. Is there any
relationship between tooth and skin color.
The answer is, partially yes. The tooth size is affected
by gender and race. Color? Nope. African descent have
bigger teeth than European descent. Male have bigger
teeth than female. Someone needing a file loger than
30mm? It`s feasible.

first visit on May 7th. Mostly transparent grey with a tint of yellow.

Wait, what`s the stick our hygienist is holding? This is called
Vita System 3D-Master used to determine the tooth shades.
Patients usually forget their original teeth color during
3 weeks of whitening period. So we use this color chart to
compare and record the teeth color.
Let`s go back to whitening

This photo is taken right after the first whitening. Please don`t mind
about the different brightness range. Our camera setting keep changes.
Anyways, can you tell stronger whiteness in the second photo?

Above: first visit
blow : after second whitening
I need to check the camera setting for sure. Let`s ignore tiny differeces.

This photo is taken after 3rd whitening.

Compare to first visit (photo above), teeth are generally whiter with less yellow staining.
Be cautious! whitening can make your teeth sensitive.
I did use whitening strip once back in university. I fell asleep
with the strip on my teeth and ended up with sensitive
front teeth for a while.

Also, bleaching doesn`t work on crowns. If you want to do bleaching and crown?
Do whitening first.
How long does teeth whitening last? It really depends. Teeth whitening
effect can last up to 2-3 years or as little as 6 months things
that make your whitening short-lived include smoking, dark liquids
like coffee and tea, staining foods like berries. Brush your teeth
at least twice a day and avoid staining foods. Keep in mind that
staining is inevitable.
